Are you like me? Have you struggled with pride? Have you taken situations into your own hands? Tried to control or manipulate a person with your words or actions? Wanted something so badly that you’ve justified sin? How has that worked for you?
Our lives are like automobiles driving down the road. Storms come that make it difficult to see the road. When we control the steering wheels of our lives we end up having accidents. Because we make so many mistakes! When God is in control of the steering wheels there are no accidents, despite the worst of storms.
Pride divides us from God and away from His perfect influence (Gen 3). Humility brings us close to God and under His perfect influence (Ja 4:6). When we humbly submit to God’s perfect will He is able to lift us up above the storms (Ja 4:10). Our automobiles turn into airplanes of supernatural grace and we are able to stay on course.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you identify an area of pride in your life. Choose to let go and trust God to give you the grace you need to move in the right direction (Matt 7:14, 2 Cor 10:4-5, Jn 16:24).
