The best things in life are TIMELESS!
In a trendy world the best things in life are timeless! Honey and love! Honey has an indefinite shelf life if stored properly stored, love never fails, and love abides (1Cor 13). There are four texts in the Bible that refer to the “new heavens and new earth”. (Isaiah 65:17; Isaiah 66:22; 2Peter 3:10-13; & Revelations 21:1-5) God’s Word is making it clear the world as we know it has an end. A very traumatic and cataclysmic end related in 2Pet 3:10, & 12. The new heavens and new earth are the recreation of the Lord, and Rev 21 gives us a compelling glimpse of what is to come next. A world without the sin or curse, where God lives among the people. For the better part of two millennia, believers in Jesus have comforted and encouraged themselves with the knowledge of God’s promise to remake the Heavens and the Earth as our new home going into eternity.
We can take a few critical points from those key texts. The earth as we know it will be destroyed, and rebuilt by the Lord. We don’t know if it will look or feel like this one. We know that sorrow, tears, and the curse of sin will be gone. Try to imagine a world without all that DRAMA! We will serve Him in this new Heaven and Earth. There are times when the hired help for the rich and famous love their work, because the people they work for are so kind, interesting, and welcoming. How much more awesome to be God’s servant? You or I could be a gardener and have the Lord come and talk to us about what’s growing in His garden. Very Cool! You would still be you, and I would still be me, but without the flaws. It will be a world without corruption! If there are politics, no one will lie or cheat to get things done. God will be in charge and we will know physical contentment in a way not imaginable here.
