At ACF,  Life Groups focus on encouraging each other in personal growth and learning through Biblical application. They emphasize building Christ-centered relationships while providing genuine care and accountability for one another.

There are many verses that indicate Christianity is more than something you and I do.  It is a relationship with Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit we functionally share in together.  Here are several that offer background for why we encourage small groups:

  • Eccl. 4:9 “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor.”  Working together increases fruitfulness.
  • Ecc.  4:12 “Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.” God working with us together, offers strength against spiritual darkness.
  • Prov. 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.”  God uses our relationships to refine and grow His image in us.
  • 2Cor.  6:16 “And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them and walk among them.  I will be their God, and they shall be My people.”  God’s presence manifests in our gatherings
  • Acts 1:8 “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”  This power is often wonderfully released when we cooperate with others, also filled with and moved by the Holy Spirit.
  • Acts 5:42 “And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.”  Jesus is meant to be shared by all of us to our “near by’s”, that is our family, neighbors, and friends.
  • James 5:16 “Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”  God uses us to minister to each other.
